Quick comment: both this episode on God Emperor as well as the accompanying Listener Feedback episode refuse to be downloaded when using the Podkicker app on Android. The other episodes don’t have this problem, so it might be worth looking into what the problem is.

God Emperor was initially going to be a first person narrative by Leto himself but was re-worked into the form we know which matches the rest of the novels.

Leto II is very much an archetype of the tragic character. I was genuinely moved by his death in the book.
